My Habits To Wake Up With Joy

Hi, everyone!!! I pray that you are all well and that your day has been good! I know mine has! Every day that God gives me is a good one! I pray that is your experience too!

I know that it’s often hard to wake up each day feeling joyful but I’m here tonight to give you a couple of tips on how to be sure that you wake to each morning with hope in your heart. There really are things that you can do to make sure that you have a good day. The kind of day you have is not just happenstance. It’s a choice! That’s the GOOD NEWS!

Many people believe that they will have either a good or bad day based on their circumstances, but this isn’t the way that it has to be. We CAN CHOOSE what kind of day we are going to have regardless of our circumstances. It really is a matter of your mindset. If you choose to look at what might go wrong, you choose to keep yourself on the defense throughout the day. If you’ve ever dealt with someone who is constantly defensive, and we all have, you know that it is a tiresome task. As hard as it may be to believe, dealing with defensiveness is tiring, not only for the person who is experiencing the blows of the attitudes that come with it, but it also drains every drop of energy from the person who has to keep up the guard. I don’t know about you, but I never really thought about that way. It makes sense though. How draining would it be to constantly feel that you have to fight every person and every word that comes your way?

I’m here to offer you some hope. Only one person gets to choose whether you are happy or unhappy. That person is you. Joy is a state of mind. I want to share a couple of things with you that I do to make sure that I KEEP my joy. I, often, tell friends, clients, and anyone else I think might need to hear it that no man can steal your joy except you give it to him. You wouldn’t hand someone your wallet with your cash in it. Would you? Of course not. Well, your peace of mind is much more valuable!! Hold on to your peace at ALL costs. You control your words and actions and a you will remain in control of your own joy.

Here are a couple of things that I do that truly help me to hold tightly to the joy that I possess. Let me tell you, joy is MUCH easier to hold onto than it is to get back once you lose it.

The first thing I’d like to share with you that I try to do to stay joyful is that I work to stay as close to God as possible. I keep His Word forever on my lips and in my heart and mind. I continually keep a dialogue going with my Savior throughout every day and every night. He WANTS us to be joyful!! If we stay close to Him, then He will help us to keep our joy in our possession. To do this, we must talk to Him often, repent continually, and strive every moment to obey His commands. Keeping His Word in our hearts will make that doable as we lean on Him for direction, strength, wisdom, and understanding.

The second way that we can work to be sure to begin each day with the joy that we want to maintain is to take care of ourselves physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Be sure to eat and sleep as healthily as possible. If you’re not nourished or rested, then your defenses will be down and you will have less control over your emotions. While you are taking care of your physical health, you should consistently be paying close attention to what you are thinking about. This might sound silly, but you can choose what you allow in your mind. Now, don’t get me wrong. You may not be able to stop thoughts from popping into your mind, but only YOU can decide how long you will think about it. The more quickly you replace an undesirable thought with a desirable one, the easier it will be to keep the negative thinking under control. If you struggle with this skill, then I highly encourage you to seek professional help. That help may come in the form of a life coach or therapist. I, personally, have exercises that I implement with my clients that I find to be very effective at helping to learn to control what a person is consistently thinking.

I hope that this has given you some food for thought. I can assure you that working on refining your thought life will prove to be valuable in your quest for happiness. There is NO substitute for this step to achieving lasting joy. Don’t hesitate to start working on these skills. I can promise you that you will wonder why you waited so long!!

Thanks for joining me and I look forward to meeting again soon. If I can help you to find the lasting joy that God longs for you to have, then I pray that you will get a hold of me. I, truly, believe that, in addition to an intimate walk with God, taking control of your thought life is one of the most important ingredients to living a Godly and joyful life.

Many blessings!!

Just some late night thoughts from Nikki

Hi there, everyone!! Tonight I just want to talk about a subject really quickly. This won’t be long, but I think it’s important. As Christians, or even just people, we tend to expect certain things from ourselves. When we don’t meet those expectations, then we can tend to be really hard on ourselves.

If you’ve done this, and most all of us have, You have surely learned that it can be quite destructive. While we are expecting great things, we tend to become very unforgiving when we don’t perform as we expected. In this way, our expectations can really hinder us. So, what can we do?

Well, I’ve learned in my life that sometimes I just have to redefine my definition of success. When you find that you aren’t able to reach all of your goals as they are, then maybe you have to make the goal more attainable.

Now, I’m not advocating being lazy or just copping out. It’s important to stay motivated and to always strive to be all that you can be, but it is, often, counter productive to keep trying to reach a goal that is simply unreachable. So, when you are evaluating your goal, you must make sure that it’s not too easy, yet is still attainable.

Measure your performance against yourself and not others. Remember that this life is not a competition. It’s about glorifying God in all that we do and fulfilling the purpose that He has created us with. So, ask Him what that purpose is!! Ask Him to guide you and help you to learn, trust, and obey. Take chances when it’s reasonable to do so and do what you can do. Rest assured that, if this is what God wants you to do, then He will take you the rest of the way.

God loves you and I’m convinced that He wants each one of His children to be stupid, dancing in the rain happy with our lives!!!! Ask for His wisdom and guidance. He’ll give it and never give you a hard time for asking!! How cool is that???

I’m going to close for now, but I really wanted to remind you all just how special you are to The Creator!!!! Jesus loves you and He longs for you to trust and obey Him. Let Him be your partner in this life AND the next!!!

Thanks so much for joining me and I will see you all again soon!!

Feel free to contact me at Nikki Jordan Life Coaching to get started on your program today. I would love to work with you!!!

Hi, Friends!!!

I’m just sitting here with my cat and thinking about how great God is. Nikki Jordan Life Coaching has really been growing lately and we are, now, officially an LLC!!!!! I’m so excited and am working really hard to spread the message that you don’t have to live the life you’re living if it isn’t fulfilling to you.

I spent so many years living a life that I thought I was happy with only to find that I really wasn’t. I wasn’t happy because I was not fulfilling the purpose that God had for my life. A great part of that purpose, I believe, is to help others to find joy in their lives too!

If you’ve lost your joy or maybe never really found it in the first place, then I invite you to contact me to help you to make the changes in your life that will truly impact your entire life! There is nothing like knowing that you are fulfilling the purpose for which God has put you on this Earth.

I want you to know that I love you all and look forward to helping you to become all that you were created to be!!!

How Can We Trust God With The Changes In Our Lives?

Sister Sharon Ellen Jones-Hudson gave a message in church yesterday that has really been resonating with me. Today, I watched Joyce Meyer and her message was about not being afraid of change and that God has a plan, but you have to trust Him and give in to the changes that have to occur in order for better things to come to you. Then, I looked up scriptures to meditate on and this came up as the first one in the list!!!

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11

I was SO AMAZED!!!! I KNOW that God is telling me that change is ok. Now, I have to work through the fear that accompanies changes when things have been the same for so long. I have always learned that God confirms things in threes. This is one of those circumstances!

I’m working on allowing God to help me to be excited about the changes that are coming and need to be made and the only way to do that is to learn to trust Him more and more each day. I’ve been serving God for the better part of 26 years now and, let me tell you, we will NEVER learn to FULLY trust Him without fail while we are on this Earth. Doubt is part of being human, but to be the kind of Believer that God wants us to be, we MUST get better and better at putting everything in His capable hands. I’m so thankful that I, now, know that He’s telling me that it’s going to be ok.

I pray that, if you’re struggling to trust Him with the unfamiliar in your life, you will join me in learning to let go one fear at a time.

May our God bless you immensely as you endeavor to follow Him with ALL of your heart!!!

All my love,
Nik

This Morning’s Insights From God

This morning, I was reading a book called                                    Praying Through The Scriptures and this caught                        my eye. As I read it, God began to speak to my                             heart about  this very topic. I pray that this                                 message feeds your soul too!

                              Love, Nikki

“If we have too much of what we want before our hearts are conformed to the Lord’s, we will be fleshly and contrary to His character. But, if we learn obedience through the things we suffer, we will have a heart prepared to abound properly. For even Jesus was tested this way.” -Adam Houge

We often wonder what is taking God so long to answer our prayers and this is the answer. Paul said it, himself, in Phillippians 4:12.

American King James Version
I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.

Here, I have included the same scripture in the GOD’S WORD® Translation so that we can see the concept put another way to understand it more thoroughly.

“I know how to live in poverty or prosperity. No matter what the situation, I’ve learned the secret of how to live when I’m full or when I’m hungry, when I have too much or when I have too little.”

I love this because we so often wonder what is taking God SO LONG in giving us what we ask for and this is why. He is preparing our hearts for what we want because if He gives it to us too soon, then we may very well lose out with Him and NOTHING is that important.!

So, the next time that God tells you to wait, remember that He tells you this BECAUSE of His everlasting and deep love for you! No good parent would want to give something to his or her child before the child could use it responsibly and in his or her best interest.

God’s not mean. He’s just preparing us to receive His gifts in a MUCH MORE meaningful and satisfying way!!

Have a great day, Loved Ones!!!

Love, Nik

Relinquishing Control

Hi, everyone! It’s been a while since my last post. I’m doing well. I’ve been dealing with some health issues, but KNOW that they are NOTHING that God can’t handle!!!! You see. I know that My God is ABLE and that ALL that goes on in my life is in HIS control.  And rightly so! Who could handle our lives better than an all powerful, omniscient, omnipotent, LOVING, and FAITHFUL God? I think that just about covers it!

Some people think that they are not perfect enough yet to give their lives over to God. The thing is that the longer that we DON’T turn it over to Him, the WORSE it is destined to become!!!! That, my friends, is the truth!  In my devotions today, I came across this chapter in Hebrews. We don’t have to be perfect to comet to Him. We come to Him because we AREN’T perfect and THAT’S a fact!

Enjoy this reading! I pray that it comforts your souls and gives you the confidence and the faith to just jump in and trust Him. He REALLY DOES love you!!!!

God bless, All!

Nikki

Now, here’s the reading that I promised!

Hebrews   AMPC

1 THEREFORE, WHILE the promise of entering His rest still holds andis offered [today], let us be afraid [to distrust it], lest any of you should think he has come too late andhas come short of [reaching] it.
2 For indeed we have had the glad tidings [Gospel of God] proclaimed to us just as truly as they [the Israelites of old did when the good news of deliverance from bondage came to them]; but the message they heard did not benefit them, because it was not mixed with faith (with the leaning of the entire personality on God in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness) by those who heard it; neither were they united in faith with the ones [Joshua and Caleb] who heard (did believe).
3 For we who have believed (adhered to and trusted in and relied on God) do enter that rest, in accordance with His declaration that those [who did not believe] should not enter when He said, As I swore in My wrath, They shall not enter My rest; and this He said although [His] works had been completed andprepared [and waiting for all who would believe] from the foundation of the world. [Ps. 95:11.]
4 For in a certain place He has said this about the seventh day: And God rested on the seventh day from all His works. [Gen. 2:2.]
5 And [they forfeited their part in it, for] in this [passage] He said, They shall not enter My rest. [Ps. 95:11.]
6 Seeing then that the promise remains over [from past times] for some to enter that rest, and that those who formerly were given the good news about itandthe opportunity, failed to appropriate it anddid not enter because of disobedience,
7 Again He sets a definite day, [a new] Today, [and gives another opportunity of securing that rest] saying through David after so long a time in the words already quoted, Today, if you would hear His voice andwhen you hear it, do not harden your hearts. [Ps. 95:7, 8.]
8 [This mention of a rest was not a reference to their entering into Canaan.] For if Joshua had given them rest, He [God] would not speak afterward about another day.
9 So then, there is still awaiting a full andcomplete Sabbath-rest reserved for the [true] people of God;
10 For he who has once entered [God’s] rest also has ceased from [the weariness and pain] of human labors, just as God rested from those labors peculiarly His own. [Gen. 2:2.]
11 Let us therefore be zealous andexert ourselves andstrive diligently to enter that rest [of God, to know and experience it for ourselves], that no one may fall orperish by the same kind of unbelief anddisobedience [into which those in the wilderness fell].
12 For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature], exposingandsifting andanalyzing andjudging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart.
13 And not a creature exists that is concealed from His sight, but all things are open andexposed, naked anddefenseless to the eyes of Him with Whom we have to do.
14 Inasmuch then as we have a great High Priest Who has [already] ascended andpassed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession [of faith in Him].
15 For we do not have a High Priest Who is unable to understand andsympathize andhave a shared feeling with our weaknesses andinfirmities andliability to the assaults of temptation, but One Who has been tempted in every respect as we are, yet without sinning.
16 Let us then fearlessly andconfidently andboldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God’s unmerited favor to us sinners), that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find grace to help in good time for every need [appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just when we need it].
